Hello guys!
Here's a little post to show you my favourite makeup items up until recently!
I 'm not going to name this strictly March or April favourites, since (due to my no-internet Easter break) I would be too late to talk about March favourites anyways, and it's already May, so, it would be easier to talk about my spring "picks" instead!
I 'm sure that some of you may recognise a couple already, as I 've raved over them in past posts.
1. MAC Fascinating Eye Kohl (as swatched & discussed here). Personally I love the look of white eyeliner on the waterline; from a distance you can't dissociate it from the white of your eyes, a quality which makes them look bigger and more "awake". It's an eye kohl, so it applies smoothly and easily, and in all honesty, I can see myself repurchasing this again and again!
2. Sephora Glitter Eyeshadow in 51 - "So Elegant". If you 'd like to get a better idea of this eyeshadow click here. A great shade for daytime and nighttime, it adds some sparkle to what would otherwise be a plain (not that that's necessarily bad) neutral look and makes it much more interesting. Perhaps not ideal for touch ups though, as the best way to wear this is foiled (damp brush - Fix+ or water would do - picks up the eyeshadow, then pressed onto lid).
3. Essie Van D' Go. Ok, so, this is kind of a love/hate thing. Love the shade: a light, bright pinky peach, ideal for spring. Hate the formula: hello streaky horror! Probably one of the worst non-drugstore nail polishes I 've ever bought: it requires a minimum of 2 coats to get it to look even (if you 're lucky) and it doesn't go well with top coats, which seem to accentuate its yellow tones!
Perhaps not the best nail polish for your fingers, but... most certainly more than adequate for the toes! Bright: check, pretty and interesting: check, and its imperfections are not really likely to be noticed when worn on the toes, good enough for me!
4. YSL Golden Gloss in #20 Golden Macadamia. One of the most gorgeous lip glosses I 've ever tried! It's basically a nude shade, with lots of small golden glitter, guaranteed to make your lips look very pretty, regardless if it's layered over a lipstick or not! It contains moisturising elements (nigelle and cameline oils) and its stickiness is definitely not terrible. Oh, did I mention it has that nice, (distinctive of YSL) mango scent? :)
5. Chanel blush in No. 15 Orchid Rose. I adore this blush, I just do. Its colour is so hard to describe, I 'll make an effort and say that it's a peachy, burned, neutral rose shade, if that helps at all (my photo here doesn't do it any justice btw). It's a very chic and grown-up shade and it has tiny shimmer particles that add a perfect glow to your cheeks! I 'm sure that this is a universally flattering shade, one that suits almost all skintones/undertones. If you 're looking into Chanel blushes (and btw, has anyone ever finished one of these? Is it possible?), you 'd like to check this one out!
Nothing like talking (and reading) about well-used and well-loved products! :)
So, how about you?
What are your recent favourites and why? And is it a decision based on colour, habit or sth else...? Do share!

I'm dying to try out the YSL glosses and lippies! lol! I think my current faves are based on colour, usually if a colour catches my eye in the morning, I try to incorporate into my makeup look. :) x
ReplyDeleteOrchid Rose is my all time favourite gloss as well as Mica glossimer my all time fav gloss. That new YSL shade also looks nice, maybe I should get it for myself.
ReplyDeleteMarina from Makeup4all
The blush looks gorgeous, have you dont any fotd's with it? So sad about the Essie polish, I have been umming and ahhing over getting some Essie which I've never tried but I hear so many horror stories about the streaks, what are some of your favourite Essie colours? xx
ReplyDeleteI love Chanel blushes!the texture, the color, the packaging, everything is great... i think I think the Orchid Rose will be the next one I try!

I just finished my Chanel blush, and don't even ask me who many years it took me!!
ReplyDeleteIn the end you get to a pink paper/card (I'm assuming it's always the color of your blush). I couldn't believe it either!
I'd like to try that YSL lip gloss as I love the color but I hate that mango scent...
Sonja
Lovely post!!! I noticed a "pink theme" going on?
ReplyDeleteCurrently I don't like putting on too many products on my face so I'm loving the simplest make-up look ever: mascara, cheek stain, a rosy lippie and I'm off to the streets ;)
I still want that Essie polish!!
ReplyDeleteAnd the blush looks great! Nice and glowy :) I'm gonna check it out!
♥
You've reminded me that I have Essie Van D'Go tucked away somewhere... I need to dig it out, looks pretty :) xx
ReplyDeleteWow that gloss is insanely beautiful! I need to try it. The blush as well looks amazing, I've never tried a Chanel blush but always wanted to :)
ReplyDeleteI just noticed my blog in your sidebar, haha! Thank you for putting me there, I'm so flattered!! xoxox

Hey Hun! How is your week coming along?
ReplyDeleteOoo the Essie Van D'Go nail polish is such a pretty colour. Too bad it's so streaky though :\ A lot of light pink nail polishes have that problem - either that or the colour is very light when I apply it. But you did a great job with it on your manicure!
I wish white eye liner made my eyes brighter. It makes my eyes look funny for some reason - even a flesh toned pencil :( So I always use a black liner on my waterline - it seems to suit me much better.
The YSL gloss looks gorgeous especially with the gold glitter!
Hmmm...I would say I'm addicted to false lashes and dark eye shadows :) A couple of my favourite false lashes are Ardell 107s and MAC #4. And for eye shadow I'm loving so many purples and browns - MAC Twinks seems to be a recent fav of mine. And I'm in love with my MAC Prive lipstick too - too bad it's limited edition though *pout*
omg ur nails are so gorgeous...gotta get that essie colour...mwaaah xxx
ReplyDeleteoh, I have a Chanel blush too. I haven't finished it, just like you said, and I don't think I'll ever finish it. When I bought it, I didn't want to use it, didn't want to "ruin" it, after all it is kinda expensive. Weird, huh? That's why it'll never end, ha ha ha...Anyway, current favs:My Max Factor Creme Puff in Medium Beige, a kinda-make-up, kinda-powder product, you put it on and you're ready to go! 2 or 3 glosses from Korres brand, I'm always on a hurry, especially in the mornings, I apply them and I'm off to the streets. My new mascara, Hypnose Precious Cells, truly amazing for my "poor" lashes. Hope I'll get one day lashes like Julia's in the TV ad (wishful thinking..). My non make-up product, my two perfumes I use up to my mood: Flower by Kenzo and Hypnotic Poison by C Dior. Nice blog btw

YAY for the Essie Van D'Go reminder. I have that one too. How does it look when you put top coat on? When I wore the other peachy color from the same collection Tart Deco top coat turned it into a very ugly orange =(
ReplyDeleteI rented The Witches from the library. I read it so quickly. I would love to read Matilda again, im fact.
xx
I'd like to try that YSL lip gloss!
ReplyDeletehttp://laura-pieces-of-beauty.blogspot.com/
LOL - maybe you're right...white liner make take some time to grow on me. I've only tried it a few times but like you said, it looked SO weird! It didn't even make my eyes look smaller per say - just weird like something was wrong LOL. Ah well. Yes I know you use white liner and your waterline and it suits you :)
ReplyDeleteI guess the white liner and concealer for under eyes would be good for people who are up late from studying so maybe you could give it a try if you're up late prepping for your finals. Good luck with your studies Hun!
I tried on the YSL gloss, definitely is great!
ReplyDeletexoxo!!
Just wanted to let you know I've tagged you :)

Looking forward to your post! Have a lovely day :)
Nice favourites! I like the polish, it's a very pretty colour, same as the Chanel blush (lucky you!)
ReplyDeleteXO
Oh let me know if you get the polish how you like it. :)
ReplyDeleteI love it so much I recently stocked up on another bottle (for just in case.) ;)
xx
@Shirley: Ah, YSL is such a luxurious brand, you can't go wrong with it! Their lip products are very nice! :)
ReplyDeleteI 'm colour-driven myself most of the time as well, lately it's greys on the eyes and corals&peaches for the face!
xxx
@Marina: Oh, you 're so lucky to own Mica, it's been on my wishlist forever!!!
The YSL gloss is gorgeous, you 'll most definitely not regret it! :) x
@Jo: Sadly I haven't done a fotd with the Chanel blush yet, and at the time of posting this, I was having some trouble with my skin, so decided against it! I should do at some point, it's too pretty not to show!
Essie is quite a hit or miss I 'm afraid... some nail polishes are good, but others are ridiculously streaky... I like Great Expectations (only for toes), the neon ones from last summer, and Greenport (great cool toned one). Too bad they 're so inconsistent with their formula, cos they release pretty nice shades!
xxxx
@Tonia: Orchid Rose is very flattering, I def suggest you give it a try when you get the chance! :) Can't go wrong with those sleek black little boxes! :)
xoxo
@S: Oh, wow, hats off to you, I can't believe there's actually someone out there that finished one of those blushes!!! It will surely take me light years before I come even close to finishing mine!!!
ReplyDeleteThe YSL gloss shade is lovely, and even though I personally like the scent, I can understand that it's not to everyone's taste!
xx
@cbsg586: Lol, yes, pinky-peach theme to be exact, but good eye! ;)
Sounds like your simple routine is effective! I 'm like that too if I 'm in a big hurry, but it always feels nice doing the full thing (which is probably gonna be less and less from now on with exetastiki coming up)!!!
xoxo
@FELINE.: Van D' Go has been somewhat of a beauty blogger "it" nail polish, but it's only for the colour - for me it was a spur-of-the-moment purchase, realistically I should have tried to find a dupe from some other brand...
The blush is pretty unique though! :)
xxx
@TalluluhBella: Lol, I love it when one blogger reminds another of some product forgotten in their stash, proof that we all own a bit too much perhaps, hehe! :)
xxx
@ellamarie84: Trust me, the lighting in my photos doesn't do either of them any justice, perhaps I should try and photograph them under different lighting at some point!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd, no need to thank me, I enjoy reading your blog sweetie, especially your fashion hauls!!! ;)
xoxo
@Cheryl Clarke: Thanx dear!!! Lovely OOTD posts btw! xx
@Karen: You 're so right about those brighter toned nail polishes, I think it's like a general rule that the lighter they are, the harder it is for them to apply nicely...
Ah, still not used to those white flesh-toned liners, huh? Well, not everything works for everyone, but it could be just a matter of habit ofc! You look gorgeous anyways! ;)
I 've yet to try MAC Twinks btw...in the near future (cos my perm collection eyeshadow wishlist is half of what they make, no joke, lol)!
Thx again for the white eyeliner tip, it's gonna come in handy, I'm sure!
And thx for the tag too!!!
xoxoxo
@Glam and Glitter: Oh thank you sweetie!!! Hope you 're well!
xxxx
@Pink_Fish: Lol, that makes some sense, but there's also a LOT of product in there... and the dome shape doesn't help at all ofc!!! :D
ReplyDeleteLovely favourites btw, you gave me a couple of ideas for new products to try out! :)
Great taste in perfume btw hun and thanx for the tag! ;)
xxx
@Katie: Glad you enjoyed this post dear! :) The blush is quite a classic one, no? ;)
xxx
@chrystyna: Thx dear! :) Do swatch the blush if you get the chance, I 'm pretty confident that you 'd like it! :)
xx
@gabrielle: Thank you dear! So sweet of you! :)
xox
@Ema Cuthbertson: Agreed, YSL glosses are beautiful, both the colors and their consistency, my only complaint is that I can't afford a lot of them in one go! :)
ReplyDeletexx
@Fashion Chalet: Well, we seem to really like each other's nail polish, huh? :)
The top coat gives Van D' Go a horrible dirty yellow tone, thankfully it's not very noticeable from a distance, but noticeable enough for me to always be reminded that it looks...weird! I just wear it without a top coat!
Gonna order Vodka&Caviar soon, this month got a little out of hand as far as nail polish purchases are concerned!!!
You 've also reminded me to ask my mother to go through my old books to find those two, I 'd love to read them again! :)
xoxox
@Laura: You definitely should, it's lovely! :)
xx
@O'Style: Smart choice! :)
xxx
@Marce: Thank you dear! :) They 're nice, I can't complain, lol!
ReplyDeletexx
@STREETFSN: Thank you for stopping by and truly stunning job with your blog!!!!!
x
the essie nail polish is absolutely gorgeous! im going to have to buy it, so my colour :)
ReplyDeletehttp://nataliesthoughtsaboutbeauty.blogspot.com/
@Natalie-Jane ♥: It's definitely a pretty spring/summer-y shade, but be prepared, the application is far from perfect! xx
